Simply Wrought Iron offers a decorative wrought iron snow gauge that measures 50.5 inches long overall. Snow gauge instruments are used throughout the snow belt states to measure snowfall depth. The snow gauge is designed for you to easily read the large numbers of the gauge at a distance through a house or cabin window. From the top, the snowflake finial is 4.5 inches wide x 3.5 inches high. Next, snow gauge instruments have 36 graduated 1 inch markings to measure snowfall depth. Finally, the remaining 11 inches of snow depth instruments form an installation foot bar. Factory powder coated.

INSTALLATION HINT: It is best to mount your wrought iron snow gauge prior to ground freeze. To install, press into the soil by stepping on the installation foot bar welded to the bottom of the gauge. Once the soil does freeze, be confident your snow gauge instrument is set in place for the winter.
WHERE TO PLACE YOUR SNOW DEPTH INSTRUMENT: Consistent snowfall depth measurements are easily achieved if you pick a relatively flat mounting spot, has indirect sunlight, and is sheltered from the wind as much as practicable. Don't place any snow gauge instruments too close to trees. Also, consider the wind in your snow gauge placement. Stronger winds will likely blow snow around or away from the gauge, causing snowfall depth to be under-reported.
